Jiangxi Project

springbud class In 2003, a Springbud Scholarship Program was started in Jiangxi Singzi through the help of Women’s Organization in China .  It started out supporting 40 girl students at Liau-Hua Junior High School.   This group included twenty 7th grade, ten 8th grade, and ten 9th grade students who would have dropped out of school due to financial hardship in their families.   Liau-Hua Junior High assigned a teacher, with no extra charge, to serve as the supervisor to provide guidance and oversee their progress while they attended same classes as other students in school.  Currently, this program has 23 students remaining and they are now attending two high schools in Singzi county. However, the total dollar amount of financial aid has increased from $4,000 in 2003 to $6,000 in 2006.

In 2005, the fledgling Aspire Education Foundation adopted the Springbud Scholarship Program as one of its flagship projects. In the fall of 2006, we started two new springbud classes in Jiangxi Province; one in Shang Gao County Shang Gao Middle School and the other in Jiujiang County Gang Kou Middle School, each with 40 7th and 8th grade students.

Yunnan Project

Luxi project Luxi Scholarship Program was started in September 2005 in Yunan Luxi. Currently, we offered 25 scholarships to 11th and 12th graders at Lu-Yuan High School The scholarship recipients were recommended by teachers and staffs based on family hardship and academic performance of the applicants.   Luxi project is operated through the help of our local Yunnan volunteer, Ms. Jia-Cui Lee, who is a retired high school teacher.  Ms. Lee visits and chats with all the scholarship students at least 3 times a year.  She also visits some of the students’ families in rural farming villages to verify their financial hardship.  Our US volunteers visit the students and school with Ms. Lee once a year to make sure the project is operated smoothly.

An Hui Project

The An Hui Scholorship Program was started in 2007 with the donation from a group of donors in Northern California. With this program, we set up a merit-based scholorship in Anhui Occupational College of City Management to help students with financial need. Currently, we are sponsoring 14 students majoring in English, Tourism management, Insurance, business, and computer application. A local teacher is responsible for the mangement and coordination of this scholorship program.
